The family behind VinylGear Works

Pretty cool what a few records can start.

A child’s curiosity brought vinyl back into our home. The rest grew from there.

Our family. A shared love of music. A collection that keeps growing.

A few months ago, my 11-year-old son asked about music and records from the “olden days.” He couldn’t quite wrap his head around how a vinyl record could play music. So I bought a record player and a few albums to show him. It blew his mind.

He was hooked, and I fell in love with collecting all over again. What started as a little demonstration became something we love doing together: choosing an album, listening, and talking about the artists, the history, and the artwork on the covers.

Vinyl found a space in our home—and gave us a new way to spend time together.

From chef to tech geek to maker.

I’m Patrick. I spent about 25 years as an executive chef before moving into technology. The tools changed, but I’ve always loved figuring things out and making something people can enjoy.

With records back in the house, that instinct found a new project. I wanted to create something cool and useful for our growing collection. RecordStay began with a familiar problem: keeping records upright when the shelf isn’t full.

VinylGear Works brings those interests together: music, collecting, and the satisfaction of turning an idea into something you can hold.

Meet RecordStay

Good records deserve another spin.

We’re still building our collection, especially rock and jazz, and trying not to break the bank. We’ve already discovered that some vinyl apparently belongs on the Nasdaq!

If you have reasonably priced records or a collection gathering dust, we’d love to hear from you. We’re always happy to make room for music that will be played and enjoyed.

Tell us about your records

Thanks for being part of the story. — Patrick & family
